about

Anthocyanin refers to the chemical released in trees during the autumn seasons-- it is responsible for the changing color of leaves in the twilight of summer-into-winter, a macrocosm of the transformation of the sky at eventide. The gentle 5/4 rocking ostinato is built on simple tonal structures that undergird naive yet winsome melodies that crest and fade much like the annual arboreal metamorphosis itself. I am grateful to Brookespeare Music for their beautiful first performance of this piece for its recording.
